Arquetopia Program Themes & Content b
Over the years, we have identified a constellation of recurring concepts, questions, and lines of inquiry that emerge at the intersection of research and artistic production. Rather than functioning as a fixed curriculum, these themes operate as a dynamic framework—one that reflects the evolving concerns of artists as they navigate the entanglements between making, thinking, and situating their work within broader historical and political contexts. Each theme opens a field of tension, inviting critical reflection on how knowledge is produced, embodied, and circulated through artistic practice.
To activate these themes, we work with a living, critical bibliography that is built specifically for each artist. Rather than a generic reading list, this becomes a practical tool: a set of texts, references, and frameworks that directly feed into decision-making in the studio—material choices, formal strategies, and conceptual positioning. Artists engage multiple voices and methodologies, often in tension with one another, to sharpen their own perspective. This process is not about accumulation, but about precision—identifying what is necessary, useful, and provocative for the work at hand. The result is a highly individualized pathway where research immediately translates into production, allowing artists to test, challenge, and expand their practice in real time.
